In collaboration with United Health Care and Optum, Dr. Ellner co-developed the Colorado Doctor’s Plan, an innovative narrow network insurance product that empowered physicians to deliver care within a well-coordinated, value-based model.

Prior to his executive roles, Dr. Ellner had a successful career as a general and trauma surgeon, serving as President of Saint Francis Medical Group at Trinity New England. Dr. Ellner also served as the Chairman and Founder of the Connecticut Surgical Quality Collaborative, bringing together a consortium of 20 hospitals to share outcomes-based data and develop best practices for comparative effectiveness research.

Dr. Ellner holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences, and a master’s degree in healthcare management from Harvard University.
