Physicians at the Florida Medical Clinic ACO Excel in Quality, Attaining One of the Top Quality Scores in Florida

St. Louis, MO, and Tampa, FL, October 15, 2020 – HealthSync West Florida, a Navvis and Florida Medical Clinic joint venture, today announced the Florida Medical Clinic ACO achieved top-tier ACO performance in the Florida market. Their 2019 Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) ACO results include total savings of $10.25 million and a quality score of 98.5, one of the highest in Florida, and ranked in the top 6% nationwide out of 541 participating ACOs.

The ACO achieved a combined savings rate of 5.6% in the 2019 MSSP ACO results, putting it in the top quintile of all ACOs nationwide, ranking 92nd out of 541 participating ACOs. HealthSync West Florida, on behalf of the Florida Medical Clinic, manages approximately 15,000 lives under an MSSP ACO and over 15,000 lives under a full risk Medicare Advantage program, all in the greater Tampa market and  in addition to other value-based contracts across all lines of business.

“We have an incredible group of physicians at the Florida Medical Clinic who are dedicated to making our patients our first priority and who are committed to providing exceptional care to the families we serve,” said Joe Delatorre, chairman and chief executive officer, Florida Medical Clinic. “These ACO results are another proof point that our physicians, supported by HealthSync’s care teams and technology, are delivering better health at a lower cost to our patients in Florida.”

“Congratulations to the physicians and their teams at the Florida Medical Clinic,” said Mike Farris chairman and chief executive officer of Navvis. “HealthSync West Florida is a market example of how Navvis partners with health systems and physician organizations to support and enable physicians to do their best work. Navvis is continuing to expand its HealthSync presence by deploying these same capabilities to other markets across the nation, to drive groundbreaking results and market-leading levels of performance and quality,” Farris continued.

Rapid increases in Medicare Advantage enrollment, expansion in commercial and Medicare ACOs, and growth in managed Medicaid contracts create significant value-based care opportunities for providers across the country. These opportunities all require integrated population health management capabilities that effectively support physicians, connect a care ecosystem, and ensure timely, personalized healthcare delivery. Navvis, through its HealthSync partnerships, brings an integrated solution to provide these services and ubiquitously serve all payers and lines of business as they adopt risk-based contracts and invest in value-based care. HealthSync invests in and partners with health systems, health plans, physician organizations (POs), Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Independent Practice Associations (IPAs), Clinically Integrated Networks (CINs), and Management Services Organizations (MSOs) to deliver premier quality, high value care to their patients and unlock new sources of financial value to reinvest in the journey to transform healthcare.

In her September 14th Health Affairs commentary, CMS Administrator Seema Verma emphasized that the “critical feature of value-based care is organizations taking on downside financial risk and accountability for the cost and quality of care their patients receive.” Participating ACOs generated $1.19 billion in total net savings to Medicare in 2019, the largest annual savings for the Medicare program to date. As performance continues to improve for ACOs nationwide and as ACOs progress on the glide path to risk, the importance of successfully managing risk increases and creates more opportunities for providers across the country.
